Edunova

Edunova, founded in 2004, supports access to and training on Information and Communication technologies (ICT). The non-profit organisation operates through partnerships with local schools all over South Africa, and has experience in setting up and managing “Learning Centres”, including a facility in Langa, Cape Town.

Edunova offers five learning programmes aimed at school learners or educators. An ITE (Information Technology Enabler) programme, Educational ICT Leadership, Robotics, Coding, and Learner Support. Edunova’s local campus, situated next to LEAP (one of the main schools in Langa) provides easy access to local students in Langa and surrounding areas.

In a city that has the ambition to be a Silicon Valley of the African continent, where start-ups are in constant need for skilled coders (or simply ICT sector workers), upskilling learners could help reduce unemployment and support economic growth.

However, Edunova’s local leadership and staff feel that they could do more and do better to strengthen their relationships with Langa residents and promote the value they bring to Langa.

They are keen for input from a Brown IE Team aiming to boost their effort to making optimal use of the Langa Learning Centre. This may involve drafting a strategy document to that effect and designing processes and control management systems.

The assignment is supported by Dietrich Baron (Programme leader for Education at Edunova) and Ziphelele Mdlalo (National Implementation Coordinator) both mostly based in Langa.
