4. Curl Lingo

Melody is doing quite well. The past year has been a mixed one for Curl Lingo, with various ups and downs. Melody is currently focusing on building greater brand presence on social media, and has brought on someone to help with video editing, a task she had previously been handling alone, alongside all other aspects of running the business.

Back in February, the Imperial team worked on three key challenges: tracking finances, monitoring inventory, and launching a new website. On the financial side, she had been using a basic invoicing tool without realising it was also recording her sales data in the background. This proved to be a valuable revelation, allowing Melody to view sales trends over time, identify her best-performing products, and set more realistic business goals.

On the inventory front, Melody says she largely continued relying on instinct rather than the new tracking system the team set up. However, she intends to set aside dedicated time to streamline her processes and make fuller use of the tool going forward.

Progress on the website has been a bit delayed due to a payment integration issue with Paystack and Shopify, which is currently being resolved. Melody is also overcoming a mental block around technology and websites, but feels that delegating this to someone else, as the team showed was possible, will help her move forward with confidence. She is amazingly grateful to her team and hopes to stay in touch.
