Nomase's B&B
Ncumisa is very grateful for the tools the team developed for Nomase’s Guesthouse.
The development of a website and the printing of flyers did not just increase awareness of the existence of this small BnB, in the heart of Langa. It was a powerful confidence booster and self-esteem booster for Ncumisa, who sounds far more confident than she did only a year ago when the Reciprocity team first met her.
Ncumisa’s record keeping has improved. She is now able to track the occupation rate with confidence. However, she is only using the invoices to do so, and not the book the team has developed. When we met, we had planned a refresher session with Asanda -the team’s navigator- on how to make use of the tool.
We were pleased to see that the relationship with her navigator was ongoing and building on the consulting work the team performed. Following-up with Asanda later, it comforted us about the fact that our team of navigators includes extraordinary human beings who profoundly care for their community. This is more than just a job for our navigators, it’s a profound human commitment.
An idea the team had suggested was to make all rooms “en-suite”. Ncumisa wants to have achieve this project by September. This transformation will surely provide a competitive advantage to Nomase’s guesthouse. We will hopefully witness it at the start of Cape Town summer season.
